The multihead weigher operates by dispersing product to pool hoppers, which then drop measured amounts into weigh hoppers. The system's computer identifies the optimal combination of hoppers to achieve the target weight (e.g., 100g), then discharges the product through a chute into packaging.

Dispersion methods include gravity, vibration, or centrifugal force, while feeding can be accomplished through vibration, gravity, belts, or screw systems. Optional booster hoppers store weighed product not used in a weighment, increasing available combinations for improved speed and accuracy.
